and now....

i've been bogged down on a rather large project. my little baby sister will be getting married on October 17th and I am making her dress. It is ten days away so I promise I am almost done :)
Also I have made my "maid of honor" dress as well. It's left me with a lot of design ideas, and very little time. Here is something I was able to squeeze into the madness. Hope you enjoy! Check back for more all the time! Wedding pictures will be up as soon as humanly possible.

oh summer

sooooo it's summer, and in Florida most days equal degrees too high to risk heat stroke outdoors. in between long sits at the sewing machine i paruze the wonderful world of handmade. I had to search for Where the Wild Things Are items in the shop, because I just can't stand the wait for the new movie! One of my favorite books of all time. There are many treasures to be found, but this locket was my favorite! find more from her at imagesunderglass.etsy.com.....
here are just a few more things i love.....

A recycling miracle. I love the idea of these old keyboards having new life breathed into them by way of some colorful paint! Perfect for the summer spirit. toongee.etsy.com

Recently discovered this dude on etsy, even though he's been selling his fantastic t's for a long time. They are so original and I've got my eye on a few. The hoodies are super cool and if it wasn't 100 degrees right now I'd definitely be ordering one.

just purchased these beauties from sanfranblissco.etsy.com. she has many more lovelies in her shop and the craftsmanship is amazing. check her out!

dresses!!!!!

on my way loyal readers. i've listed new dresses to my etsy shop today. this is just a small glimpse of the future. i will no longer be producing kids clothes to sell on etsy. since the new CPSIA guidelines (read more here: http://www.cpsc.gov/ABOUT/Cpsia/cpsia.HTML) i've decided to focus soley on my dresses and tops for ladies. I make my own patterns and I am currently perfecting my ability to make a range of sizes. right now its limited, but keep your eyes open, soon i'll be able to accept custom orders!! more coming everyday! thanks for reading!

happy swimming to you!

i'm back, sucka!

because i am not qualified for any available job at this time, sucker has become by full time career. but don't worry i have a game plan. I've set up my workspace, and i have a wonderful studio with newly repaired equipment. enough of that. i love the octopi but i must warn that i've had many things influence me over these past few months, and i can't promise everything will be tentacle-themed. be prepared to deal with that. also many more dresses are on the way.

more frequent blog posts

new items added to the etsy shop daily

and possibly updates on local markets and festivals I will be attending

see you soon.

i have a voice

its difficult to hear sometimes. My brain never stops generating ideas, none of them linear or cohesive. It leads me to keep pretty quiet about my creative process. However, I think that the purpose of a blog such as this is to share. So to all of you out there reading this (no matter how few of you there may be) I promise to speak up.
I have been sewing like crazy. I just finished a new girls shirtdress adorned with a handful of colorful vintage buttons. The deliberate randomness was hard to achieve so I went for organized chaos instead. It was one of those moments when I saw all the buttons heaped on the table and thought they looked so beautiful, but I just couldn't translate it in that exact way to the fabric. I used a new kind of fabric dye. Procion (you can read more about them here jaquardproducts.com) is a more permanent absorbing dye and I'm really looking forward to working with it more. It is the reason for the beautiful blue green color of the cotton, which reminds me of the ocean.

After that I went to work on women's wear. I think this will be the beginning of a real transition. I've been mastering my patterns and as soon as I come across the best possible way to reuse enough fabric, I'll be making more dresses. Reusing fabrics is really important to me. Here are some photos of the dress....

thats it for now. Visit hitree.com to hear about how the biggest felt tree that ever lived will be visiting our new president this month.
